For those unfamiliar, Stephen Hero is our friend Matt Elliott’s Hip Hop music project. Long-time listeners will remember Matt from previous episodes of Strange Grooves, where we’ve chatted with him about his new Saint John restaurant, Ethel and Mary’s, and his music under David R. Elliott.

In this week’s episode, we dive into all things rap and hip-hop as we chat with Matt about his introduction to the genre and his earliest influences that led him to start writing his own rhymes as a kid. We also get into what he likes about the genre, his favourite hip-hop records, and of course, his latest work under Stephen Hero!
