Volume 161: Exploring Vital Signs with Abby J Hall

Welcome back, Strange Crew!

In the latest episode of Strange Grooves, we had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with Canadian singer-songwriter Abby J Hall to dive into the release of her debut EP album Vital Signs. Dropped on September 27th, this project is a beautiful culmination of Abby’s musical journey, filled with raw emotion and thoughtful composition. In our chat, Abby opened up about the intricate process behind the creation of the album, the flow of the songs, and how it all came together.

One of the conversation's highlights was her collaboration with the renowned producer Chad Howat. Abby described how working with Chad shaped the sonic landscape of Vital Signs, allowing the music to reach new heights and align with her vision. She also shared the thought process behind her album art, which visually represents the theme and emotion behind each song, pulling listeners deeper into her world.

Abby also explored her recent experience working with President's Choice on a project and how her career is evolving excitingly. Beyond the technical aspects of her work, she shared some wisdom with us—offering the advice she’d give to her 13-year-old self, which is as moving and relatable as her music. Of course, we dove into influences, how seeing Taylor Swift’s Eras tour impacted her, and so much more.

We’re so grateful to have had the chance to catch up with Abby and talk about Vital Signs. Her passion, creativity, and humility make this episode one to remember. We encourage all our listeners to check out her new EP—a heartfelt collection of songs that will undoubtedly resonate with you!
