Vol. 162: On Tour with the Doobie Brothers: Our Chat with Photographer James Trocchio

In our latest episode of Strange Grooves, we had an incredible conversation with James Trocchio, the primary photographer on tour with the legendary Doobie Brothers. We first met James in October last year during the Doobies' sound check in Moncton, where we were lucky enough to get behind the scenes and meet some of the crew. We knew we had to stay in touch since that first encounter, and we’re thrilled to bring this interview to you finally!

James shared with us what life is like on the road, not only with the Doobie Brothers but also with his previous work touring with artists like Rob Thomas and Matchbox 20, as well as rocking stages with Blink-182. His passion for photography was evident from the moment we started talking, and it was inspiring to hear how his love for capturing moments has grown over the years. From snapping iconic shots on tour to finding his unique perspective behind the lens, James gave us an inside look at what it takes to be a top-tier photographer in the music industry.

One of the best parts of our chat was the invaluable advice James shared for aspiring photographers. His words were simple but powerful—just get out there and do it. Don’t wait for the perfect moment or the perfect gear; ask people if you can take their picture, seize opportunities, and most importantly, don’t be a douche! It’s all about building genuine connections and staying humble, something James embodies fully.

With the Doobie Brothers coming to our hometown of Saint John, New Brunswick, on October 16, 2024, we couldn’t be more excited to release this episode. James is just as pumped for the show, and we’re beyond stoked to have this fantastic conversation with him ahead of the big night. The Doobies are known for delivering hit after hit, and we can’t wait to see them rock the stage!

Limited tickets are still available, so grab yours now, Strange Crew, and we’ll see you at the show. It’s going to be an unforgettable night!
