Volume 99: Hanging with Maestro Fresh Wes

Alright, Strange Crew, “This jam is amplified, so just glide and let your backbone slide,” and welcome to our interview with award-winning musician, producer, actor and author, and now friend, Maestro Fresh Wes!

On this week’s very special episode, we sit down with Maestro, who recently moved to Saint John, at Ethel and Mary’s in uptown Saint John. Owner and New Brunswick rapper Stephen Hero also joins us as our guest co-host, and boy; he came prepared!

Maestro takes us through his earliest memories of music and how he first discovered rap. Stephen Hero chats with Maestro about some of his favourite records and some of his stories and experiences working with some of the best in the Toronto scene and beyond.

He also shares a personal story about rap that literally kept his best friend alive, and some thoughts on LL Cool J he’s NEVER revealed in an interview until now. We also chat about Maestro’s new radio show with 97.3 The Wave, Maestro In The Maritimes. Be sure to check that out on Friday nights!

Stephen Hero also takes over our usual “Desert Island Discs” segment with a question of his own.

Thanks for tuning in —there is so much more on this episode of Strange Grooves. We hope you enjoy the ride.
