Volume 58: At the Cottage with Dave Love!
This week we’re on the Kingston Peninsula to visit the home of Dave Love, his wife Sara and their two girls, Sadie and Nora (who you will also hear in this episode).
Now when we say Dave has a huge collection, we mean HUGE. Like two floors, just under 10,000 huge. As you will hear in the episode, we were overwhelmed by the sheer volume, care, and passion that has gone into his collection.
We chat with him about how he started collecting, keeps track of everything, his overall approach to collecting, and much more! Out of close to 10,000, what are his three Desert Island Discs? You’ll have to listen to find out!
We also discuss an incredible family project involving the Loves recreating album covers in Dave’s collection. As you will see in the photo gallery below, it’s a family photo album like you have never seen!
Dave also tells us all about The Cottage, a cozy building behind their home where they have been hosting amazing intimate house shows and how it has created a place for the whole family to enjoy live music. They have some cool shows coming up, so if you’re in the area or plan to be, follow them on Facebook here!
This amazing concert experience (getting kicked out of Bob Dylan, whaaaat?!) and so much more on this episode of Strange Grooves!
As we’ve posted on our Facebook page this week, Dave and his family are also currently fundraising for a wheelchair van. Dave was diagnosed with Progressive Multiple Sclerosis in 2014, and up until now, he has been transferring in/out of his vehicle, but this is no longer feasible since he has started using a wheelchair. Now he must transition to hand-controlled driving in a wheelchair van.
Please if you have a few dollars to spare, please consider donating to the GoFundMe page here. A private donor matches every donation up to $10,000, so a little bit will go a long way!
Until next time, keep it strange!
