Volume 51: Jeff Goldblum & The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra!

We are thrilled to release Volume 51 of the Strange Grooves podcast with some truly incredible and super-talented guests; John Story and Alexander Frank from The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra. These fine gentlemen play with Jeff Goldblum, a star we all know.

They just released an album on November 9th. We just scored our copy, and holy moly, it’s amazing! This record is an absolute pleasure to listen to! The band is so interactive. They love having fun on stage and with the audience, and you can hear that playfulness and pride on the record and in these interviews.

First off, on the album, you will hear some of your favourite ’60s jazz numbers, you will hear from US Comedian Sarah Silverman and American songstress Haley Reinhart. The band is also joined by an incredible Trumpeter, Till Bonner.

The entire album is just extra special; trust us on this!

The band has been very busy since the album was released, and they just completed a mini-tour in Europe. They just appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel Show and two nights ago on the James Cordon show.

It’s been a busy year for the entire band, and they have no plans on slowing down in 2019.

In this episode, we call John and Alex to find out about what’s coming up, the recording process and the stage they built at Capital Records to recreate the live experience of the club they usually play at. We also chat about how they got into music, desert island discs, and so much more!

**We really hope you enjoy this episode and for those that are big Goldblum fans, read more below to hear about Cait meeting Jeff in LA a couple months back:**

“This past September, I managed to get in to see a sold-out show at  The Rockwell LA

I honestly want to say that this was hands down one of the best if not the best live performance I’ve ever witnessed and I really feel that each member of the audience would agree. I also got to meet Jeff and the members of the band. I had the craziest experience, as he pulled me on stage and I sang the Canadian National Anthem. This is one of my most cherished memories, obviously!

Jeff and the band are extremely talented individually and I was blown away by what happens when you put them together. The way they interact with the fans and allow you to partake in every part of the show is really cool. The atmosphere, the apple crumble, everything was just decadent! I love how they make the music fun, and high-spirited.

Jeff has been playing piano since he was a child and performed at various venues in L.A. an New York over the past few decades. Although Jeff is still very busy acting, when he is not you will find him now touring with his band and hosting his weekly show. The shows feature great crowds, locals and celebrities, but the show is a mix of comedy, incredible music, friendship and really being part of a moment and by the way, very scrumptious food!

I am super humbled to have checked out this performance, thrilled we got to catch up with John and Alex and very excited to see them again in 2019 with some of my closest friends!”
